We are Gerard and Ingrid Hoekstein

When we arrived at Château La Commanderie in 2024 while searching for a peaceful home in France, we knew right away that this was the perfect place for us. A peaceful château with plenty of space and stunning views of the Vienne Valley and the vineyards. A nature reserve where deer and pheasants roam the garden, yet close to the amenities and restaurants of L’Île Bouchard, less than 2 km away (an easy walk). Absolute peace and quiet for Ingrid, yet with the opportunity to meet people through the Chambre d’hôtes—something that is indispensable to me, Gerard. Since December 23, 2024, we have been the proud owners of our dream chateau. We immediately began a thorough cleaning and a major renovation. Walls and ceilings were repaired. The technical systems were brought up to standard, the guest rooms were refurbished, and the plumbing was upgraded. In addition, the painting was completed and… there is a beautiful swimming pool!

We were finally able to open our Chambre d’hôtes/B&B at the end of April 2026. I do my very best to offer you a warm and unforgettable experience. You are most welcome!
